In April 2025, Denmark’s immigration authority (SIRI) refreshed its Positive List for skilled work and higher education roles, coordinating with the January update. This rollout added 162 occupations to the Higher Education list and widened the Skilled Work list, especially in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, green tech, ITA, and engineering.
What’s New Specifically for Healthcare?
The healthcare section is robust:
- More than 1000 healthcare openings, including doctors, nurses, and midwives.
- Specialist roles like nurses, medical doctors, midwives, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and more remain on the list, with validity extending to December 2026.
- This expansion addresses Denmark’s aging population and widespread clinical labor shortages, ensuring global professionals are prioritized.
Why Green-Tech & Energy Roles Shine?
DEmarks’s net-zero ambitions- cutting greenhouse gases by 70% by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2050 - fuel high demand in green tech. New skilled and higher-education roles include:
- Renewable-energy engineers, offshore wind specialists, carbon-capture technicians, and hydrogen-energy engineers.
- The REPowerEU plan (April 2025) streamlines permitting for district heating and renewables-fast-tracking green-tech projects across Denmark.
- Investment in Power-to-X, CSS, and clean-energy infrastructure amplifies the need for international green-tech talent.
